National Academy of Sciences: Marijuana can be used as a medicine

In one of the least surprising announcements of the year, the National Academy of Sciences has declared that marijuana can be used as a medicine in order to improve one’s health naturally. Despite the fact that anyone who has done any significant amount of research on the subject could have told you the same thing, racking up data from numerous reputable sources is always a good thing, as it eventually reaches the point where nobody can deny the truth any longer. Even the staunchest critics of marijuana will have to accept defeat at some point — and that is when true liberty will be achieved.

Marijuana advocates all over the world rejoiced at the news, and for good reason, since it is yet another piece of scientific evidence that helps prove to naysayers that cannabis has considerable health benefits. NORML Deputy Director Paul Armentano stated, “The National Academy of Science’s conclusions that marijuana possesses established therapeutic utility for certain patients and that it possesses an acceptable safety profile when compared to those of other medications or recreational intoxicants are not surprising. This evidence has been available for some time, yet for decades marijuana policy in this country has largely been driven by rhetoric and emotion, not science and evidence.”

It continues to become more and more obvious that the only reason that cannabis hasn’t been legalized from coast to coast, all across the United States, is because the powers that be are benefiting heavily from the pharmaceutical drugs that are being peddled in its place. Should cannabis be legalized, Big Pharma will take a drastic hit, which is guaranteed to leave them scrambling. Considering the fact that President Donald Trump has already waged a culture war against the pharmaceutical industry, it should come as no great surprise that they don’t want their brand to be damaged any further.

The bottom line is that cannabis is a natural, healthy and effective alternative to chemical drugs that are created in a lab somewhere. Opioid addiction in America is through the roof, and few have the courage to address that fact because they are afraid of the wrath of those controlling the pharmaceutical industry. Thankfully, the truth is always on the side of justice and there is no way to keep the truth from coming out. Though the powers that be did their best to keep Americans in the dark on the health benefits of cannabis for as long as possible, that time is long gone. We are all waking up, and it’s only a matter of time before everyone knows that marijuana is actually considerably healthier than the drugs peddled at the pharmacy. This is going to be a year that welcomes many changes to the United States. With the inauguration of Donald Trump comes a lot of new ideas regarding freedom and liberty within our country. One of the issues that our politicians need to address immediately is the archaic manner in which the federal government views cannabis. If they are truly in the business of improving the lives of the American people, they need to stop banning a plant that is guaranteed to help many. Should they choose to continue living in the past, denying the truth and waging a war on reality, they will be preventing many from reaching their full potential.

Garlic, honey and apple cider vinegar: Powerful natural mixture against indigestion, obesity

Science is supposedly looking for miracle cures for all sorts of ailments, yet nature consistently provides the most powerful remedies anywhere on the planet. These solutions are also typically far safer and cost pennies on the dollar compared to steep costs for conventional medical treatments. Better yet, these down-to-earth treatments are usually simple and accessible to all people. The mixture of garlic, honey and apple cider vinegar is certainly no exception to those principles. It is a powerful remedy that you can make in the comfort of your own home with ingredients you probably keep on hand.

Benefits of this naturally healthy remedy

The combination of the three ingredients yields specific advantages to anyone who mixes then drinks them. It can help to prevent and treat gastrointestinal symptoms such as indigestion, and it has also been shown to ward off weight issues like obesity. With the obesity rate climbing ever higher, having people take a few minutes to prepare this drink can certainly provide a solution to a growing problem.

Taking a look at the benefits of the three individual ingredients gives some clues as to what makes them so powerful when combined:

  • Garlic is high in allicin, which is anti-inflammatory and anti-aging. It offers a world of miraculous benefits, and when taken internally, it can be helpful for treating all sorts of infections.
  • Honey contains high levels of vitamins, minerals and enzymes, and it’s an excellent antiseptic.
  • Apple cider vinegar may provide the secret sauce in the garlic, honey and apple cider vinegar combination because of the sour-tasting liquid’s anti-obesity and indigestion-fighting properties.

You can imagine what a powerhouse you are creating when you combine the three items, in light of their individual properties and benefits even when used alone. (RELATED: Learn more news about the healing power of superfoods at Superfoods.news)

How to make this powerful mixture

Preparing for yourself a healthy drink of these three wonderful ingredients could not be easier or quicker. Simply measure out one cup of apple cider vinegar, one cup of honey and ten cloves of freshly minced garlic. Thoroughly combine the ingredients in a blender, and pour the mixture into a glass jar. Refrigerate that. Take two tablespoons of the mixture each day in the morning, before eating or drinking anything. The mixture keeps for five days, and after that it will not provide the same powerful benefits. If you would like to improve the flavor some, add a small amount of water or organic juice such as apple juice.

Tips for maximum effectiveness

To get the most healing power out of the garlic, honey and apple cider vinegar mixture, make sure you follow certain rules. First, preferably use only organic ingredients. Also, garlic should be as fresh as possible or even grown in your own garden. Avoid using garlic that feels spongy or has dried out. Honey needs to be raw and preferably local, and avoid at all costs the “fake” honey that has become more prevalent in recent years. It is a “mystery” concoction of additives masquerading as a healthy food. Use raw apple cider vinegar that contains particles, also known as the “mother,” that settle to the bottom of the bottle. Before pouring out some vinegar, shake the capped bottle vigorously to thoroughly mix the particles in with the liquid.

Additional benefits include reduced cholesterol and blood pressure, cancer treatment and diabetes improvement. What if one of the cures for those dreaded ailments is right in your kitchen? So cheers to your health, and enjoy the rewards that come from setting aside a few minutes daily to take care of yourself by drinking this remedy.

CBS News shocked to report local man cured his cancer with cannabis oil

For those of us that have been following the process of cannabis legalization in the United States — and especially for those of us who are conscious of our health — then news about the “newfound” health benefits of cannabis comes as no surprise. For the rest of the world, however, the realization that people who are using cannabis are not a bunch of lazy stoners comes as a bit of a shock — but only because many of them have been willfully ignorant of the truth.

Few have been quite as ignorant as the mainstream media, whose obsession with normalizing everything somehow passed right by marijuana and cannabis products. Instead, they normalize things that are objectively evil like war crimes, pedophilia and government corruption. If you don’t realize that they have a certain agenda, then you simply aren’t paying close enough attention.

Then there are the few media outlets that are finally acknowledging the benefits of cannabis, but they also act so surprised by this fact that it is endlessly frustrating for those of us that have been fighting for truth on the matter for years now. This happened most recently with CBS News, when they appeared completely baffled while reporting on a story about a man whose cancer was cured through the use of cannabis oil. (RELATED: Stay informed about CBD oil and other cannabinoids news at CBDs.news)

Brett Blume of CBS St. Louis reports, “The 50-year-old Granite City man is putting out the word that a steady diet of cannabis oil coupled with chemotherapy wiped out what doctors had only months earlier diagnosed as ‘incurable, inoperable’ lung and pericardial heart sac cancer. He’d basically been given about a year to live, with chemo. … He carried with him a stack of medical documents to back his claim that he’s been given a clean bill of health just months after being handed a death sentence.”

But while Blume seems shocked by this advancement, it really shouldn’t be all that surprising. There have been hundreds of reports over the years of people explaining how cannabis oils, marijuana and other products of a similar nature helped cure various illnesses and diseases. The fact that the mainstream media has been refusing to acknowledge any of these reports goes to show just how unconcerned they are with reporting on the truth and standing up to the status quo.

The only reason that marijuana isn’t already legalized is that the federal government profits far too heavily from the alternatives. The pharmaceutical industry would be put on life support almost instantly if marijuana were legalized across the United States, and since they are in the pockets of both the federal government and the mainstream media, that isn’t happening any time soon.

We need to hold the mainstream media to a higher standard and continue to spread the truth about cannabis. The fact that there are still people in the United States that are misinformed about the plant is frustrating and unforgivable. All we can do at this point is fight back against misinformation and ignorance. That is the only way that we can win this battle.

So let’s get to work. (Read more news about advances in natural medicine remedies at Remedies.news)

sauna to quit smoking

Can saunas really help protect you against heart and brain diseases?

Amazing relaxation while being bathed in soothing heat as your every care drifts away and your health gets a boost. Sounds delightful, right? The feel of a sauna is incredibly pleasing to many people, and now, research shows that regular sauna use is not just enjoyable. It also yields some serious health benefits. For example, it can help to reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke as well as brain disorders such as dementia. With heart disease and Alzheimer’s being leading causes of death and disability in the United States, this news about saunas is definitely welcome.

What the research shows about sauna use

The research on the benefits of sauna is truly remarkable, and what is even more compelling is that the study showing the benefits was done over a long period of time (more than two decades) with a large number of participants. University of Eastern Finland researchers followed 2,300 men and discovered that there was a staggering 63% decrease in deaths from strokes and heart disease in the participants who used saunas regularly. Even more encouraging, there was a 66% decrease in Alzheimer’s disease and dementia cases with the sauna users. One key to getting results like that was using saunas frequently enough, such as completing four sessions weekly.

If any medication could achieve something like that, it would make headlines everywhere offline and online. It would be the top trend on every single social media network. This is just another piece of proof showing how well natural therapies work. (RELATED: Learn more about disease prevention at Prevention.news)

Why saunas are so beneficial for certain health conditions

Now the question is “Why does sauna use yield such amazing health benefits?” More research needs to be done to uncover more specific answers, but so far it appears that the astounding benefits relate to the increasing of the body’s core temperature in a mechanism called passive heat therapy. This in turn increases blood flow, which is beneficial to cardiovascular health. The process is similar to what happens when a person exercises. And sweating has been shown to be beneficial for overall health.

Quite possibly sauna use is beneficial also because it induces such a deep state of relaxation and stress relief, given that stress contributes to inflammation. Stress and inflammation are involved in many chronic health problems.

Ideas for getting into regular sauna use

Many Scandinavian homes have beautiful wood saunas, but this handy and healthful feature is not always prevalent in other areas of the world such as the United States. But that shouldn’t stop anyone from reaping the benefits of sauna use. Public locations such as gyms, spas and even integrative health practitioners’ offices house saunas. For those who prefer the privacy and convenience of in-home sauna use, there are portable saunas available to purchase online that are quite reasonably priced. Some models fold up for easy storage and portability.

There are also the much more elaborate, permanent and beautiful wood saunas. The main down side to these is that they are more expensive. But for people who can afford them, the cost certainly can be lower than the cost and suffering involved with a serious chronic condition such as heart disease or dementia.

We have known for a long time that “an apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Now we need to revise that familiar phrase by saying “a few sauna sessions a week can keep many health problems away.” This information coming out about sauna use is a reminder that simple lifestyle practices can provide profound effects for our health. Bee-On-Honeycomb

9 natural health benefits of Bee Propolis

Aside from the vital role bees perform in plant pollination, they also provide humans with several health-boosting substances – honey itself has numerous therapeutic properties; bee pollen and bee propolis also offer amazing health benefits.

Bee propolis – also known as “bee glue” – is a sticky substance derived from tree resin collected by bees.

From NaturalHealth365:

“Bee propolis begins as a resin secreted by trees. Bees metabolize it, and the resulting substance is about 30 percent beeswax, 55 percent resins and 10 percent aromatic oils and ethers. It is responsible for creating a sterile, safe environment within bee hives, so it’s no surprise that it has antibiotic, antiviral and other healing properties.”

Bees gather the sap during warm weather, blending it with wax flakes they store in their abdomens. The resulting mixture is rolled into a ball by the bee and then stored in the pollen basket attached to the bee’s leg. Once a bee gathers enough propolis, it takes it back to the hive.

From HerbWisdom.com:

“At this point, the propolis is unloaded and used to patch up holes in the hive. Bees also use propolis as an antiseptic barrier covering invaders with the sticky substance to prevent hive contamination.”

Bee propolis health benefits

NaturalHealth365 has listed nine health benefits of bee propolis. These include:

Cancer-fighting properties – Propolis has been shown to be effective in killing cancer cells. Unlike other mainstream cancer treatments, propolis kills only cancer cells, leaving healthy cells unharmed.

Bone health – Propolis helps in the growth and maintenance of healthy bones. It fights inflammation and stops bones from deteriorating.

Food poisoning treatment – Due to its antimicrobial properties, the three most common microorganisms associated with food poisoning – Enterobacter faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus and C. jejuni – can be fought using bee propolis.

Inflammation relief – Bee propolis is an effective treatment for oral inflammation and infections. Its anti-inflammatory properties are also useful in the treatment of arthritis, heart disease and Alzheimer’s.

Blood pressure management – Bee propolis can be used to decrease TH (Tyrosine hydroxylase) enzyme activity. This enzyme can inhibit the production of nitric oxide, which is important for healthy hearts. Propolis reduces hypertension and helps keep blood pressure at healthy levels.

Wart removal – Applied topically, propolis can get rid of often difficult-to-remove plantar warts. A daily application for two weeks should do the trick.

Allergy relief – Propolis blocks histamine response, making it an effective treatment against allergy symptoms such as runny noses and itchy red eyes.

Protection against heat stress – Due to its combined antioxidant, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and other properties, propolis can protect against heat exhaustion while also improving athletic performance in high temperature environments.

Illness prevention and treatment for infections – The various health-boosting properties of bee propolis can help in treating and preventing colds, flu and other germ-transmitted illnesses. Propolis fights a wide range of bacteria, viruses and fungi and provides a general boost to the entire immune system.

Propolis available in lozenges, capsules and topical applications

Bee propolis is available in many forms, including lozenges that are effective in treating sore throats, capsules that can be taken internally, and tinctures, gels or ointments for topical use. (RELATED: Discover more powerful natural remedies at Remedies.news and read about nutritional supplements at SupplementsReport.com)

People who have a history of allergic reactions or hypersensitivity to bee stings or other bee products may also experience similar reactions to bee propolis. Always read the label before using any propolis products and consult with a health care provider if you have any questions.

For most people, however, using bee propolis is a completely safe and natural way to boost your health and treat a variety of common ailments.

Three year study finds Mediterranean diet could prevent loss of brain volume as you age

A new study has provided evidence that the so-called “Mediterranean diet” can help prevent the loss of brain volume in older people.

The three-year study, published January 4 in the journal Neurology, found that a diet heavy on olive oil, fruits, vegetables, legumes and grains, with moderate amounts of fish, wine and dairy, and small amounts of red meat and poultry, helped those around the age of 70 to retain more brain volume compared to those who did not strictly adhere to the Mediterranean diet.

Lead author Michelle Luciano, PhD, of the University of Edinburgh, said:

“As we age, the brain shrinks and we lose brain cells which can affect learning and memory. This study adds to the body of evidence that suggests the Mediterranean diet has a positive impact on brain health.”

Mediterranean diet provides ‘long-term protection to the brain’

The findings reflect earlier studies showing a link between the Mediterranean diet and brain health, but this study is unique, according to the authors, in that it followed the subjects over a period of time, rather than taking one-time measurements.

“In our study, eating habits were measured before brain volume was, which suggests that the diet may be able to provide long-term protection to the brain,” said Luciano.

The study involved more than 950 Scottish seniors around the age of 70 who did not suffer from dementia.

From Medical Xpress:

“Of those people, 562 had an MRI brain scan around age 73 to measure overall brain volume, gray matter volume and thickness of the cortex, which is the outer layer of the brain. From that group, 401 people then returned for a second MRI at age 76. These measurements were compared to how closely participants followed the Mediterranean diet. …

“People who didn’t follow as closely to the Mediterranean diet were more likely to have a higher loss of total brain volume over the three years than people who followed the diet more closely.”

The researchers found that those who followed the diet lost only half the amount of brain volume compared to the effects of normal aging.

No changes in cortical thickness or gray matter volume were found.

Interestingly, the researchers found – contrary to the results of other studies – that consuming more fish and less meat did not appear to have an effect, leading Luciano to suggest that other components of the Mediterranean diet may be responsible for its brain-boosting benefits, or that perhaps it’s due to “all of the components in combination.”

What exactly constitutes a Mediterranean diet?

It should be noted that the Mediterranean diet is not one particular group of dishes or ingredients – it is rather a general regional trend that includes many variations. These cuisines, which include Greek, Italian, Spanish and others, tend to contain common elements such as seafood, red wine and olive oil – all of which are produced in the Mediterranean region.

So, even though there is not one convenient definition of what constitutes the Mediterranean diet, the overall emphasis is on fresh fruits and vegetables, lean sources of protein, legumes and grains, and olive oil rather than butter.

Such a diet is not only good for the brain, but also for managing a healthy weight and preventing heart disease and diabetes. Studies have also found the diet to be effective in preventing strokes, reducing inflammation and lowering the risk of depression.

Another important difference between the Mediterranean diet and that which many Americans practice is that it includes few processed foods. Added sugar, preservatives, artificial flavorings and other questionable ingredients are a big contributor to health problems and obesity in the United States.

Any diet that includes fresh, unprocessed (preferably organic) ingredients will always be healthier than the junk that passes for food many Americans consume on a daily basis.

So, if you’d like to live to a ripe old age while keeping your mental faculties in sharp working condition, the Mediterranean diet may be right for you!

Desk jobs, fast food and the daily grind contribute to middle-aged health crisis

Public Health England (PHE) has a mission to inform its citizens that the typical modern lifestyle is ruining health. PHE is part of the Department of Health in the United Kingdom. BBC reveals an astounding statistic:

Eight in every 10 people aged 40 to 60 in England are overweight, drink too much or get too little exercise, the government body warns.

PHE wants people to turn over a new leaf in 2017 and make a pledge to get fit.

Health officials say the “sandwich generation” of people caring for children and ageing parents do not take enough time to look after themselves.

We are living longer, but are in poorer health because we store up problems as we age. The campaign’s clinical adviser, Prof Muir Gray, said it was about trying to make people have a different attitude to an “environmental problem”.

“Modern life is dramatically different to even 30 years ago,” Prof Gray told Radio 4’s Today programme. “People now drive to work and sit at work.”

By taking action in mid-life… you can reduce your risk not only of type 2 diabetes, which is a preventable condition, but you can also reduce your risk of dementia and disability and, being a burden to your family,’ he added.

Many people no longer recognise what a healthy body weight looks like, say the officials – and obesity, which greatly increases the risk of type 2 diabetes, is increasingly considered normal.

A sedentary lifestyle can be your undoing

Although physical fitness is not the equivalent of overall health, along with a good diet, it is a great start. By now, the health risks to our bodies and minds of getting no exercise have become well established. Adding years to our life expectancy is not desirable if we are talking about extra years as a physical or mental cripple. An alarming thought is that we will increase our risk for mental degradation by being sedentary. But that is what modern research points to.

BBC.com also reports that being unfit in middle years hastens brain deterioration, citing a study that was published in the journal of the American Academy of Neurology. The study found that being unfit at age 40 correlated with a reduced brain volume at age 60, and that the brain shrinkage denotes accelerated brain ageing. 1,583 participants who were free of dementia or heart disease were studied, and then again twenty years later. MRI brain scans were given along with a treadmill test. As quoted in the article, lead researcher Dr Nicole Spartano, of the Boston University School of Medicine opined,

“While not yet studied on a large scale, these results suggest that fitness in middle age may be particularly important for the many millions of people around the world who already have evidence of heart disease.”

To drink or not to drink, that is the question

Moderate alcohol consumption is a strategy employed by some of us as a coping mechanism – alcohol can take the edge off of stress and anxiety. But immoderate alcohol use can cause more problems that it solves – it can interfere with our normal daily functioning, and enable us to ignore issues that need to be addressed. Cutting back on the amount of alcohol consumed can in itself solve problems, not the least of which is our health concerns as we enter our middle years.

Abusing alcohol in our youth can seem to be without consequence, but the partying lifestyle is not sustainable. Our wake-up call may come in the form of failing health in later years, forcing us to confront our poor choices. Is now the time to forge a new path in the new year? Yes! You can ask a friend or family member to hold you accountable in turning a new leaf. You don’t have to go it alone – your loved ones can aid you in remaining firmly resolute. The worst you can do is to beat yourself up for past failures. No matter how many breaths and heartbeats you have left, it is up to you to make the best of it, from this day forward.

Know that willpower is not a commodity of limited availability, to be conserved for emergency use only, but more like a muscle group that responds with additional capacity as you exercise it. You can start small and think big – bad habits can be overcome incrementally. And of course for some people, like alcoholics, diabetics, and pre-diabetics – the only solution is to stop drinking alcohol altogether.
